Artist's Comments
This is 12 x 17 inches, oil on muslin. It depicts Jorge, a jaguar. He was killed in 2007 after he killed a zookeeper in the Denver Zoo. It is a very sad story, but I hope they both are still friends in the afterlife. The picture of him that was all over the news is the one I painted and I see so much emotion in his eyes. I discovered how much I like galkyd lite medium during this piece, but later on when I tried it in other work it was super sticky and didn't dry as fast as the bottle says. It makes good drips though.
