eBay is my Concubine

Mon Aug 31, 2009, 12:07 PM
Don't ask why I titled this journal as such, but I do love eBay. Buying and selling. Lately I've bought a few small ACEO (art cards at 2.5 x 3.5). This is the first time I've actually won auctions for original art. It is really fun and addictive! It is also interesting to see how other artists selling their work go about it. I've sold in the past, but never bought so this is definitely a good learning experience (being on the other side, you know).

This here: [link] is a link to my listings on eBay. I sell ACEO art cards, usually about animals. Many examples can be found in my gallery. I am also trying to sell some Michael Jackson artwork there. The Michael auctions are "Giving Works" auctions, meaning a percentage goes towards charity. As always, I'm available for commissions and more information on that can be found at my website here [link]

Feel free to check out my auctions and let me know what you think of the auction layouts (I love sparkle borders! But maybe they are distracting?)

Anywiz, thanks for reading my journal! :)

I've been Tagged! 8 Things about Me!

Wed Jul 22, 2009, 10:06 AM
I've been tagged for the first time in a journal, so now I will fulfill my tagging duties! lol

Eight things about me...that you may or may not know:

1. Although I have a degree in visual art, I am currently writing a novel.

2. I hate the sun...I use an umbrella and sunscreen when I can.

3. I like to post clever and sometimes inappropriate comments on youtube videos...lol...

4. I love Disney movies and I want to live at Disneyland with Michael Jackson...he can dress as Peter Pan and I can dress as Alice.

5. I believe in animal rights and liberation; outlawing factory farms, fur farms, and circuses; and consideration of pets as legal family members.

6. I hate psychaiatrists, therapists, and social workers because they get off on others' suffering.

7. I want to win an oscar for best screenplay...and I was planning on asking Michael Jackson to be my date (seriously, I was planning on it...not that I expected to ever sell or be nominated for a screenplay lol).

8. Art, in its various forms, is the most important thing in the world.

There you have it! Now I tag you, reader of my journal.

Michael Jackson, My Biggest Artistic Inspiration

Thu Jun 25, 2009, 10:24 PM
Michael Jackson is my biggest artistic inspiration (that is human). I was a fanatic in high school, in fact, I wanted to marry him desparately. Even after I graduated high school in 2005, Michael was never far from my thoughts. I did a self portrait of myself dressed as Michael in a drawing class during college (I have yet to post it. It included Disney characters as well). Some of you may have known about my love for Michael and possibly you shared it with me.

I was planning to go to Michael's London concert. I was hoping to buy VIP tickets soon, hopefully for an October show. I thought to myself, "This may be my last chance to see him live. I won't regret spending this much money on a credit card." One of my life's goals was to see Michael in person and meet him here on Earth. All I keep thinking is "Heaven Can Wait."

There is a part of me that wants to believe that he has staged this. I wouldn't be terribly surprised, although it does seem out of his character. As bad as that would be, at least there would be a chance of meeting him in person. If only I could hug him, kiss his cheek, and tell him how much he means to me. But if I'm completely honest, my gut says he really has passed on.

There are many reasons why he is such an inspiration to me. I could write a long thesis paper on it. His professional work is inspirational to me, although it is hard to articulate why in a way other people could understand. I always felt like Michael and I were soulmates (I believe people can have more than one). I'm sure MANY others feel the same way. I've planned over and over in my head what I'd say when I met him because I wouldn't want to blend with the crowd of fans or scare him off. He and I would have been friends given the opprotunity. We have very similar personalities. When he was doing a photoshoot with ET (for the ET Storybook) he had so much fun with ET and even kissed him on the cheek. When I read that in Michael's autobiography, "Moonwalk", I thought it was so sweet.

Just a few days ago I was listening to Michael's "Bad" album on the ride back from the "Art for the Animals" workshop I took at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in UT. Just before the workshop I watched Michael's "Private Home Movies" on youtube. His commentary on it is so cute! I also watched other fan videos that were very fun...most of which were made my female fans lol.

Katherine, Michael's mom, and his children...and the rest of the family...I send them positive energy.

I hope your transition was smooth. Finally you can take a walk or go to the grocery store without any problems.

I love you, Michael. See you in heaven. (I wonder if my Minee is interested in meeting Michael? He had listened to his music pretty often...)

American Idol in Denver!

Tue Jun 9, 2009, 8:59 PM
This isn't exactly art related, but I just thought I'd mention to my fellow deviants that American Idol auditions are coming to Denver, CO from July 12 - July 14, 2009 at INVESCO Field! I will definitely try out! Hopefully make it up to Paula and them, then hopefully to Hollywood...hopefully not the bloopers! LOL! I like the show a lot, so why not audition if they are coming to my city?

I've been considering audition songs and I will be preparing at least three to be safe. My choices so far are: Melt My Heart to Stone by Adele, Remember the Time by Michael Jackson, Where is the Sun by Billie Holiday, Circle (2nd Version) by Marques Houston, and Turn Me On by Norah Jones.

Are you guys going to audition? What are your song choices?
